WELCOME TO GOD'S KINGDOM

The difference between being a Christian and every other religion is very simple. Religions invite you to work at a system of beliefs and practices to earn peace and ease and satisfaction. Being a Christian is about having a relationship with the living God and creator of the universe, Jesus Christ. God is truly amazing. And by giving yourself to Him, you are now beginning the most exciting and wonderful part of your life! God really, really loves you! And He and all of heaven are so excited that you have reached out to know Him. The book of Luke, chapter 15, verse 10 (Luke 15:10) tells us the angels in heaven are rejoicing and celebrating that you have come into God’s Kingdom. The book of Zephaniah, chapter 3, verse 17 (Zeph 3:17) says this:

The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.

THIS IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED FOR YOU:

1. God’s Word (the Bible) says you are totally forgiven for all your sins.

Ephesians 1:7 - In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.

Colossians 1:13, 14 - For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

2. You are reconciled to God. You are restored to a right relationship with God. You are now a child of God. You are fully accepted and loved.

Galatians 3:26 - You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus . . .

Ephesians 1:4, 5 - For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will . . .

3. You are a new creation in Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17, 18 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ . . .

4. You are set free.

John 8:31-33 - To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Romans 8:1, 2 - There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

5. You are delivered from the power of darkness and translated into God’s Kingdom of light.

Colossians 1:13, 14 - For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

GOD’S PROMISES AND BLESSINGS (BENEFITS) TO YOU:

As a result of accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, listed below are just some of His promises and blessings for you. No one can earn God’s promises or blessings by working harder or by being a better person. His promises and blessings are freely given to us because God loves us and wants us to have them. As you read the promises listed below, believe His Word is true for you and take them to heart. He is waiting to bless you:

  1. Everlasting Love.

Matthew 28:20 – [Jesus speaking to His disciples] . . . teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Hebrews 13:5 - . . . for He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Romans 8:38, 39 - For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2. Everlasting Life.

John 5:24 - [Jesus said] “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

3. Peace and Rest Everyday.

John 14:27 - [Jesus said] “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.

Psalm 29:11 - The Lord will give strength to His people, the Lord will bless his people with peace.

Philippians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Exodus 33:14 - And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

4. Hope for the Future.

Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”

5. He Will Lead and Guide You.

John 16:13 – [Jesus speaking of the Holy Spirit] “But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

Psalm 48:14 - For such is God, Our God forever and ever; He will guide us until death.

Psalm 73:24 - With Thy counsel Thou wilt guide me, and afterward receive me to glory.

6. Freedom from Condemnation.

Romans 8:1 - There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

7. Health and Healing.

Psalm 103:1-5 - Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; who pardons all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; who redeems your life from the pit; who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

2 Pet 2:24 - He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

Isaiah 53:5 - But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.

8. Provision.

Philippians 4:19 - And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 6:25-33 - [Jesus said] “For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, as to what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life’s span? And why are you anxious about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith? Do not be anxious then, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘With what shall we clothe ourselves?’ For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.”

  GETTING TO KNOW GOD:

From the beginning God created man to love him, be God to him and bless him. Because of Jesus, we can now come with confidence before Him. Hebrews 4:16 states, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Listed below are some things to help you as you begin your journey to know God.

1. Read His Word – The Bible.

One of the best ways to learn about God is to read His Word (the Bible). The Bible is like His love letter to us. Start by setting aside some time (on a regular basis if you can) and read one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John). As your interest grows, there are many study guides and resources available to help you learn. [ONLINE BIBLE LINKS – example - www.crosswalk.com]

2. Pray.

A simple definition of praying is “talking with God.” The best way to get to know God is to spend time with Him and talk with Him. Start by setting a few minutes aside every day to just talk with Him. You can talk to Him any time about whatever you want. You can ask Him about things that are important to you, circumstances around you, or difficulties you may be having, etc. Ask Him to give you answers. Then listen, because He will answer. He speaks to us in many different ways. Sometimes it’s just a thought, sometimes it’s a whole understanding we didn’t have two minutes ago. It could be, as you read your Bible, a portion of scripture will seem to come alive and jump off the page at you. You may get the answers to your questions or prayers another day. Be patient, and be at peace and trust Him. He knows what is best and how to communicate with you.

3. Pray without ceasing.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, the Apostle Paul encourages us to pray without ceasing. This is not meant to be a burden but an opportunity to share our lives with the Lord and be a part of His plan. From the moment you wake up, allow God to love you and bless you. Invite Him to rule and reign in your life. Commit your day to Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust the Lord and in all our ways acknowledge Him and He will make our paths straight. James 1:5 encourages us to ask Him for wisdom and discernment. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. As you go through your day, make decisions with the Lord. You may not be able to speak out loud in some situations so just direct your thoughts and prayers to Him. He’s still there. He hears you. Consider things with Him in mind. Talk to Him and listen for answers or insight. Matthew 7:7 tells us, “Ask and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.
